Leaders of the Philippine Federation of Local Council of Women Inc. (PFLCW) are all praises to the city government of Zamboanga under the leadership of Mayor Celso Lobregat citing the many plans and programs implemented that bring about development and progress to the people.

Myrna Yao, Founding chairperson of the PFLCW said Mayor Lobregat’s leadership provides inspiration and motivation to the different sectors, particularly the women, to do their best to ensure the well being of their members.

She stressed that the development and progress experienced by the residents of Zamboanga is proof that the city government under Mayor Lobregat is doing its level best to help improve the lot of the constituents.

Yao likewise thanked Mayor Lobregat for helping ensure that the conduct of the 9th Assembly of the PFLCW from January 26-28 in Zamboanga City will be a huge success.

Mayor Irene Libunao of San Fabian, Pangasinan, who is also the PFLCW Vice President for Luzon expressed admiration to the governance practices of Mayor Lobregat’s administration.

She specifically took notice of Mayor Lobregat’s passion and eagerness in promoting Zamboanga City to every visitor who comes to the area saying the mayor is a fitting example of what a local chief executive should really be.

The mayor or local chief executive should be the number one promoter of his or her city or municipality, Mayor Libunao emphasized. She said she is impressed with the numerous innovations introduced by the Lobregat administration to alleviate the plight of the constituents.

Almost 300 women leaders from all over the country attending the 9th Assembly of the Philippine Federation of Local Council of Women (PFLCW) were feted to a night of entertainment and Zamboanga cuisines in an affair dubbed Cultural Night held at the La Vista del Mar, Friday night.

During the second session day of the assembly, Mayor Lobregat warmly welcomed the participants and even cited the numerous programs undertaken by the local government intended to promote the welfare and protection of the women sector.  He likewise stressed in his message, Zamboanga’s competitiveness as he urged the assembly participants to  be the city’s ambassadors of goodwill.

The other guests during the second session day were former Senator Miguel “Migz” Zubiri and Bayan Muna Congressman Teddy Casiño. District I Congresswoman Beng Climaco keynoted the  opening program January 26.

Other PFLCW leaders present during the assembly were National President Rosalind Wee and several others including municipal and city mayors from the different parts of the country, including Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn Uy. — Sheila Covarrubias
