A security guard who was arrested for stealing a digital camera attempted to escape from detention but was captured by policemen at noon yesterday.
The guard was identified as Nirwan Alipala, 26, married, of the RD Security Agency, detailed at the Shop-O-rama Department Store and a resident of Talon-Talon.

Alipala was arrested by the police after he was tagged as the person who stole a digital camera belonging to  a customer at Shop-o-Rama last Sunday.
In an interview, Alipala admitted having stolen the digital camera from a bag that was deposited by its owner.

He said it was his first time to commit such crime adding that he did it because one of his three children has been sick for almost a month now.

“May sakit ang anak ko. Inuubo siya at kulang ang more than P3,000 monthly salary ko para bumili ng gamot, kaya nagawa ko nakawin yung digital camera ( One of my children is sick.... coughing... and I could not afford to buy medicine because my P3,000 monthly salary is not enough to do so),” Alipala said.

While he was about to be detained, Alipala suddenly ran away prompting policemen to chase him. He was cornered near the jeepney loading area of Rio Hondo and was brought back to the central police station for detenton.

Alipala also revealed that he was rendering duty as a security guard with no proper security license. — Dan Toribio Jr.
