Two foreign nationals were seized by gunmen believed to be Abu Sayyaf guerrillas in Tawi-Tawi last Wednesday afternoon.

Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Col. Randolph Cabangbang identified the victims as Ewold Horn from Holland and Lorenzo Vinzigueere,  from Switzerland.

Nestor Cabaluas, a tourist guide from Davao City was able to escape, the report said yesterday.

Report disclosed that the two foreigners and Cabaluas were taking pictures of birds  at the vicinity of Sitio Luuk-Luuk, Barangay Parangan, Panglima
Sugala, Tawi-Tawi around 1 p.m. when men armed with M16 rifles and .45 caliber pistols appeared and seized them.
Cabaluas reportedly jumped into the sea while they were taken away by the gunmen.

A military report said the gunmen brought the two foreigners to Barangay Lambong, Panglima Sugala.

Troops mounted hot pursuit operations for the possible rescue of the victims.

DZT learned that the two foreigners and Cabaluas have been staying Tawi-Tawi for almost a week and they were scheduled to leave yesterday. — Dan Toribio Jr.
