House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao and District I Representative Beng Climaco continues to put social services in the forefront of her agenda, as she allocates P4 million for social service assistance through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) this year.

In a message during the program marking the 61st DSWD anniversary, Cong. Climaco reiterated the need to support the 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) as well as the need to supplement government efforts.

For this year, the District I congresswoman is allocating P4 million for her DSWD funding through her Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
“Wherever we are placed, we have the obligation to helpout the plight of our people “, she stressed.

In 2011, Climaco’s social service assistance for indigents grew  to 5,000 from only 300 beneficiaries in 2008.

“From P500, 000 (in 2008) to P3 million (in 2011) and more in 2012”, the lady solon has announced during her state of the district report before the City Council last January 25.

On the other hand, the congresswoman’s medical assistance program which is implemented through an endowment fund at the Zamboanga City Medical Center, continues to increase assisting more indigent patients.

From only P500,000 that helped 600 patients in 2007, the District I congressional office has served over 6,000 clients for a total amount of P4 million in 2011. The assistance is done through the payment of part of the medical bills and other medical procedures.  — Marvin Segura
