The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. is introducing an online registration for prospective members in a bid to bolster its aggressive  membership campaign in the country.

Appearing in the talk show Cuentas Claras hosted by District 2  Rep. Erbie A. Fabian over the weekend, Philhealth Vice President for Mindanao Romeo Alberto said the new innovation is expected to hasten the membership process into the government health insurance program which is now mandatory.

The Philhealth executive revealed for the year 2011, the city and its regional office has managed to achieve a 74 percent coverage here, while expressing high hopes they can improve further in 2012 as they eye 100 percent coverage in the entire region in 3 years time.

Alberto revealed getting Philhealth coverage is vital for everyone as the government utilizes this to help extend health care benefits to all Filipinos in the country.

He said this is also important nowadays as cost of health care in the country has gotten to be very expensive proposition for everyone.

He also took cognizance of the vital importance of the internet as more and more are gravitating to its use.

Getting into the net will surely help to entice people to join Philhealth and get under its coverage.

Philhealth has supplanted the defunct Medicare in handling health insurance for all workers, be it in the  private or public sector.
It celebrates its 17th anniversary later this month nationwide.
