Akbar thanks Petron, USAID for school building donation PDF Print E-mail

Basilan Gov. Jum Akbar is thankful that the Petron Foundation and American government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), are providing educational assistance to the province by way construction of school buildings.

Just last week, U.S. Charges d’Affaires Leslie Basset has turned over two new school buildings, which were built through the assistance of Petron Foundation and USAID’s Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills-2 (EquALLS2), to education officials in Basilan province

The school buildings of two-classrooms each were constructed in Malamawi Central School in Isabela City, the province capital, and in Port Holland Elementary School in Maluso municipality.

Akbar said the new school buildings will of big help to the education sector in the province since it provide conducive place of teaching and learning for the teachers and students of the two elementary schools.

“With conducive place of learning, it would boost the morale of the students to excel in their studies,” Akbar added.

Akbar advised the teachers and students to put to good use and fully utilize the facilities given them by Petron Foundation EquALLS2.

Akbar also called on the local government units to assist the education sector in maintenance of the school buildings.
