Highway Patrol Group 9 Chief  Sr. Supt. Romeo R. Uy led all his provincial unit chiefs and personnel to a practice shooting last Friday as part of the Firearms Proficiency Training  held at ZAPSA firing range in Barangay Lumbangan.

The PNP’s tree planting  program called “Pulis  Makakalikasan” was conducted before the practice shooting.

After the practice shooting, Uy directed his men to  regularly clean their guns  because it is vital in the performance of their mission and duties to safeguard the different national highways in the region.

“Always maintain cleanliness of  your gun so that it is flexible and will have  good function while enforcing the law. Conducting an operation along highways is very risky and your life is  always under threat from bad  elements. Stay alert at all cost,” Uy lectured his men.

HPG Regional Executive Officer SPO4 Nestor Tabuan  disclosed that the Firearms Proficiency Training will be conducted regularly.

Tabuan said all HPG operatives are trained on how to handle and fire guns against the enemies  in different scenarios and how to avoid using their guns on civilians by accident or how to save the lives of civilians during operations against lawless elements.

The chiefs of HPG provincial units present during the practice shooting  were Zamboanga del Sur Chief Sr. Insp. Dexter Diones, Zamboanga Sibugay Chief SPO4 Nestor Bandigan, Zamboanga del Norte Chief Insp. Leopoldo Macalindol, Isabela City  Chief SPO4 Alson  Aripin, Lamitan City Chief SPO1 Wilfredo Ator, Aurora Chief PO3 Jerix Culan-Culan and Buug Chief SPO3 Eduardo Ancheta.

Range Officer Dr. Michael Macrohon told the HPG men that it is really important to practice firing their guns regularly to become familiar with them. — Allen Abastillas
