An enlistedman of the Philippine Air Force was shot dead by a gunman outside their house in Canelar Presa last Sunday night.

The fatality was identified as TSgt. Cesar Simbi y Respicio, 42, married, of the 206th Wing based at the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) and resident of the interior portion of Presa, Canelar.

Simbi sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and was taken to the Zamboanga City Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.

It was gathered that around 11 p.m. Sunday, Simbi asked permission to leave the house and go to EAAB.

Simbi boarded his motorcycle and several minutes later, the relatives learned that he was shot while on his way to EAAB.

Sources said that Simbi met an unidentified man while he was heading for the Canelar road (Mayor Jaldon St. ).

Simbi had a conversation with the man who later shot him several times.

Recovered at the crime scene were two spent shells and two slugs of .45 caliber pistol.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo said that his investigators are still working on the case.

De Ocampo added that his men were still gathering more information that would lead to the identities of the triggerman as well the mastermind of the killing. — Dan Toribio Jr.
