De Ocampo, station chiefs ready ‘Dia’ security steps PDF Print E-mail

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo yesterday gathered all the police station and unit chiefs to a meeting to discuss security preparations for Dia De Zamboanga celebration on February 26.

De Ocampo said they have come up with security measures to ensure peaceful and orderly celebration of the occasion.

He said the main agenda of the meeting was preventive measures to avoid disturbance from the lawless elements.

De Ocampo added that he has assigned police personnel in the different strategic areas and all of them are equipped with communication gadgets to file reports to their respective chief or superior in case of any eventuality.

The Zamboanga City Public Safety Company under Supt. Diomarie Albarico will be deployed in the different areas of the city proper along with policemen of the central station.

De Ocampo did not discount rumors of threats from lawless elements who are allegedly planning to create disturbance during the celebration. He said the police are ready to face them.

De Ocampo is optimistic that they will be able maintain peace and order during the Charter Day celebration .

He said the police hotline is open 24hours a day to receive calls of assistance  from the public.

Aside from Albarico, Supt. Albert Larubis and Supt. Hado Edding, those who attended the conference yesterday were the chiefs of the 11 police stations. — Dan  Toribio Jr.
