3-day camp highlights Nat’l Arts Month fest PDF Print E-mail

The National Arts Month celebration in Zamboanga will be highlighted by a 3-day camp with the participation of elementary, secondary and tertiary students from all over the city.

Organized by WMSU’s Office of the Culture and Arts under Prof. Roberto Torres, the Arts Camp, set from Feb. 24-26 at the university campus, is aimed to teach participants on the basics and breakthroughs of performing arts like street dancing and shadow theatre among others.

In short, participants will learn the introductory discipline of performing arts, Prof. Torres said.

Aside from the camp, other activities are set for the National Arts Month celebration which forms part of the city’s celebration of 75th Dia de la Ciudad de Zamboanga.

On February 21, a food demonstration dubbed, Gulucinas de Zamboanga will take place at the College of Home Economics-WMSU.

It will be followed by a back-to-back competition on declamation for the elementary level and oration for the tertiary level at the WMSU gymnasium.

The National arts Month celebration will culminate February 29 with a cultural show, dance competition, and Chabacano choral competition also at WMSU gym.

The awarding of winners of the different competitions will follow after the performances and competitions of the same date. — City Hall PIO
