PNP, Navy forces kill 2 bandits in ZS clash PDF Print E-mail

Zamboanga del  Sur Police Provincial  Director  Sr. Supt. Bayani Jose L. Gucela has commended the PNP officers and men who neutralized two moro bandits during a gunbattle in Margosatubig last Feb. 11.

Commended were Lapuyan Municipal  Police Station Chief Insp. Gerome Nebria, men of the Zamboanga del Sur Inteliigence unit led by Chief Insp. Mohdin Pantaran, men of the Provincial Publice Saftety Company led by Insp. Rommel Naciongayo  and Philippine Navy operatives based in Margosatubig
Killed in the encounter were Ibrahim and Sammang Andi.

The gunbattle lasted for 20 minutes at Sitio Bahing Baranay, Tininghalang, Lapuyan.

The death of the two lawless elements was confirmed by Barangay Chairman Salih Nazzer of Pampang. Recovered at the scene of the gunbattle were empty shells of Garand rifle, shotgun, M16 rifle and a blue XRM Honda motorcycle.

Ibrahim and Sammang had pending case of double murder and rape at the Regional Trial Court in Pagadian City.

Gucela reported to Police Regional Office Director Chief Supt. Napoleon R. Estilles that the atrocities  and criminal activities of the group of the duo included kidnapping, extortion, robbery, piracy and murder. They operated in Margosatubig, Lapuyan, Vincenzo Sagun, Baganyan Peninsula and Illana Bay. — Allen Abastillas
