Lobregat expresses city’s gratitude to Gen. Dolorfino PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Celso Lobregat today issues an executive order, expressing Zamboanga City’s gratitude, giving due recognition and honors for the exemplary service Lt. Gen. Benjamin Dolorfino has rendered as commander of the Western Mindanao Command.

In his Executive Order No. CL 374-2010, Mayor Lobregat specifically cited Gen. Dolorfino’s critical role and contributions to the City Crisis Management Committee and the City Peace and Order Council in addressing issues and concerns related to terrorism, abduction, kidnapping and other critical actions committed within the territorial jurisdiction of the city.

Born on November 10, 1954 in Dumangas, Iloilo, Dolorfino joined the military service upon graduation from the Philippine Military Academy on February 17, 1976 and was commissioned as ensign in the Philippine Navy.

He then took and passed the Naval Officers Qualification Course “Alfa” and Supply Officers Course, and served his first shipboard as mess/supply officers of RPS Datu Kalantiaw under the Naval Defense Force. He later volunteered for service in the Naval Air Group and because a Naval Aviator in September 1978. He achieved the Senior Pilot rating on the BO-105C helicopter on Oct. 15, 1984.

Shortly after his stint in the Naval Air Group, Dolorfino changed career path and served the Philippine Marines in October 1985, and held various staff positions in the headquarters of the Philippine Marines, having been officer-in-charge of the Operations Center, operations officer, deputy operations, chief of staff of the Philippine Marine Corps, deputy presidential adviser on military affairs, among others.

He holds a master’s degree in National Security Administration, a graduate of Command and Staff Course and the Amphibious Warfare Course from the United States Corps Combat Development Command in Quantico, Virginia, USA.

Dolofino assumed WesMinCom’s 3rd commander on July 6, 2009, and retired from the said position yesterday, his 56th birthday, during the turnover of command ceremonies with National Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Ricardo David Jr. as guests of honor.

Today, the city government headed by Mayor Lobregat will tender a testimonial lunch for General Dolorfino at the Garden Orchid Hotel.
