A stolen motorcycle with tampered chassis number was seized yesterday by SPO1 Ronnie Kallam Diong, document examiner of the Highway Patrol Group 9, while its driver was applying for a clearance of  change of ownership at the HPG-9 at Camp  Batalla, RT Lim  Boulevard.

Diong said after a cetain Mecandor applied for a clearance for change of ownership of his motorcycle at the HPG Motorvehicle Clearance Section, PO1 Imbryan Salahuddin found in the Motor Vehicle Information Management System (MVIMS) — which interlinks all HPG Regional Offices nationwide —  that the motorcycle  was stolen.

HPG records showed that the motorcycle was stolen along Justice RT Lim Boulevard on   August 25,1986. Its registered owner is Mr. Malcampo of Tetuan,  Zamboanga City.

MVCS Chief SPO4 Willie Silva said that once a case of stolen motorcycle is encoded in the MVIMS,  it would be recorded under an specific alarm code and it would be appear in the interlink with all HPG regional offices.

HPG Regional Chief Sr. Supt. Romeo R. Uy directed Diong to conduct deeper investigation and impound the motorcycle.

The driver is not liable because he bought the motorcycle in good faith. He is a third party buyer  and the motorcycle has already a sidecar for passengers.
Uy urged those who want to buy a secondhand  motorvehicle to ask for information from any HPG 9 provincial offices on the status of the motorvehicle so that they will be not become victim of criminal activities. —  Allen Abastillas
