Gunmen raid village: 6 killed, 9 wounded PDF Print E-mail

Six people, including two minors, were killed and nine others were wounded when gunmen attacked Sitio Bahing, Barangay Tininghalang, Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Norte last Thursday afternoon.

A police report disclosed that gunmen led by brothers Fajad and Ami Andi swooped down  on Tininghalang and opened fire on the residents in retaliation
for the killing of their brother Sammang Andi.

Sammang, who was wanted by the law, was killed in a shootout with police and Navy operatives last February 11, 2012.

The Andi brothers suspected that Tininghalang residents gave the lawmen information on the whereabouts of Sammang.

Among those killed were Daylyn Daano, wife of an army soldier, their son Laryl, 2, their neighbors, a father, his son and his grandson and Henrico
Bayamban, 11. They sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Nine others including seven minors were wounded and were taken to the hospital.

The gunmen hurriedly left the place and were nowhere t be found whe policemen and soldiers arrived.

A hot pursuit operation was mounted by government forces for the neutralization of the gunmen.

Police said that Sammang Andi had been involved in the killing of some prominent persons and in extortion activities in Lapuyan. — Dan Toribio Jr.
