Pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 declaring the month of February of every year as the Civil Registration Month (CRM) NSO Region 9 conducted several activities to highlight the celebration.  The theme for this year’s celebration is “Tamang Rehistro’ Pananagutan ng bawat Filipino”.

As part of the celebration. The National Statistics Office in coordination with the City & Municipal Civil Registrars in the region prepared various activities to highlight the month-long celebration.  Among the activities are the hanging of CRM streamer,  mobile civil registration, school campus forum/symposium,  civil registration training/lectures, regional convention of the city/municipal civil registrars, motorcade and CRM opening program,  data dissemination through broadcast and print media and exhibits.  These  were among  the activities undertaken by NSO headed by the OIC-Regional Director Ronaldo C. Taghap.

The observance of Civil Registration Month aims to remind the citizenry of their obligation and duty to register all vital events that occur in the life of an individual. The system of Civil Registration in the Philippines  was established on February 27, 1931 through the enactment of Act 3753.  This particular law requires  the  continuous  and compulsory recording of all vital events like birth, death, Marriages, and other acts and events concerning the civil status of person. — NSO press release
