Jobless man shot dead by brother-in-law in Lamitan PDF Print E-mail

A jobless man was shot dead by his brother-in-law who was later seen also having gunshot wound in Lamitan City Friday night last week.

Killed was Jovito M. Delos Santos, of Calle Bisaya, Barangay Malinis, Lamitan City.

The alleged gunman was identified as Eduardo Tabunag aka “Edwin”, 48, a businessman,  and a resident of  Pamaran Village, Lamitan City.

A police report disclosed that Tabunag  and Delos Santos had been drinking and thereafter had a verbal altercation with his wife. Delos Santos tried to pacify Tabunag, but the latter pulled a .45 cal. pistol and shot him.             

After the shooting, Tabunag was found sitting on the cemented pavement near the gate of their house soaked with his own blood. An M-16 rifle was found behind him.

Tabunag was brought to the Dr. Torres Memorial Hospital for medication and was later transferred to a Zamboanga City hospital for further medical attention. Delos Santos was rushed to Isabela City where he was declared dead on arrival.

Responding team from the Basilan SOCO recovered four empty shells of M-16 Rifle, three empty shells of .45 cal. pistol,  seven rounds of caliber 5.56, one slug of  .45 cal. pistol

The case is still under investigation.
