2 armed men with assault rifles nabbed PDF Print E-mail

Two men armed with high powered firearms were arrested by operatives of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company in Rio Hondo last Monday morning.
City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo identified those arrested as Wahid Insang y Kuyung, 35, married of Tuburan, Basilan and Romulo Lamar y Lubico, 38, married of Pagadian City. Confiscated from their possession were an M14 rifle with five magazines loaded with 90 rounds of ammunition and an M16 rifle with 18 rounds of ammunition.

A police report disclosed that residents of Rio Hondo reported to the ZCPSC the presence of two civilians armed with rifles.

Policemen rushed to Rio Hondo and spotted Insang and Lamar aboard F/B Reneboy along the mini wharf.

Insang told the police that he is a member of the Civilian Armed Auxiliary under Philippine Army while Lamar claimed that he is a security guard of
Tabunaway Security Agency based in Pagadian City.

During investigation, Insang and Lamar failed to produce papers allowing them to possess high powered firearms in the performance of duty as security escorts of the vessel.

Insang and Lamar were detained at the police station while the confiscated firearms were turned over to the investigators. — Dan Toribio Jr.
