In the name of public service and transparency, the City Council in its regular session yesterday  approved a resolution sponsored by Councilor Gerky Valesco requesting all elected officials to submit their respective accomplishment report to the office of the Vice Mayor, Department of Interior and Local Government and the media.

Valesco said that elected officials owe it to the people, hence the need to report what they have done during their term of office.

He pointed out that the performance of each elected official should be based on three criteria: Legislative Action, Social Mandate and Public Agenda.

“We were voted by the people. Our salaries are being paid by the people so they expect us to update them on our accomplishments during our term of office. It is only appropriate that we give back to them what they expected us to do,” Valesco said.

The councilor said regardless of whether the elected officials are from the opposition or administration, they are obligated to provide their accomplishment report in the name of public service and accountability.

The resolution was unanimously approved by the legislative body. — NS
