The Police Watch Zamboanga (PWZ) will award tomorrow, Saturday March 17, 2012, 10 outstanding policemen for the year of 2011.

The awarding night will be held at the Grand Astoria Hotel along Mayor Jaldon St. at 6 p.m.

PWZ representative Arsenio “Rawhide” Nuevo named the 10 top policemen as Chief Insp. Elmer Acuña, chief of the Sangali Police Station, Chief Insp. Felix Martinez of the Tetuan Police Station, Insp. Mohammar  Mariwa, chief of the City Police Office’s Anti-carnapping Unit, SPO3 Alexander Atillo, SPO4 Florante Dagamanuel, PO3 Antonio Madarimot, SPO4 Ricardo Ramos, SPO1 Francisco Enot, PO2 Rene Jose Serra and PO2 Nuruddin Salahuddin.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo will receive a special commendation.

Ten other police nominees and City Hall’s Traffic Enforcers will receive certificate of appreciation.

Nuevo said that aside from the 10 outstanding policemen, 10 other lawmen who were nominated and 10 traffic enforcers will receive certificate of appreciation for a job well done for the year 2011.

Nuevo added that the awardees were chosen by members of the PWZ  after a through background inquiry as to their performances in 2011.

The names of the awardees and nominees were selected by the PWZ members and some of them were nominated by ordinary people from different walks of life.

Nuevo said that giving the selected lawmen certificates of appreciation is a simple way in recognizing their well performed duties and their sincerity “to serve and protect” the people in the name of public service and at the same time encourages other men in uniform to do the same.

District 2 Congressman Erbie Fabian will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker.

The annual activity is being supported by Grand Astoria Hotel, Astoria Printing and Publishing, Daily Zamboanga Times, Zamboanga Today, Astoria Regency and Rep. Fabian. — Dan Toribio Jr.
