House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao and District 1 Representative Beng Climaco has hailed graduates of livelihood trainings organized by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), as she urged them to properly utilize their newly-acquired skills for self-reliance and empowerment.
Cong. Climaco funds the TESDA trainings through her priority development fund and in line with her continuous efforts to help improve the lot of the constituents.

Joint graduation ceremonies were held for TESDA graduates of barangays Ayala and Tulungatung were held recently following several weeks of trainings.

The TESDA course offered to Ayala Advent Homeowners Association were Handicraft Making and Commercial Cooking while the Tulungatung Gawad Kalinga Residents finished Handicrafts Making.

The graduation ceremony was held at the newly renovated Ayala Barangay Hall, where graduates of the community-based trainings were given certificates in completion of the course.

Present during the ceremony were leaders of the associations, barangay officials, TESDA representatives and District 1 staff.

Beng expressed her thoughts in giving out more community based TESDA trainings.  “For years now, we have empowered our vocational schools by giving out scholarships to our youth and other sectors in TESDA accredited centers. Now we see the relevance of doing the same to the organizations and communities in the barangay, so that we complement the initiatives in empowering our people in the community by also giving them venues where we could help them get additional means for additional income for their families.”

A total of 75 graduates of the courses offered were given their certificate of merits.

Climaco was commended by Sec-Gen Joel Villanueva of TESDA for her support to TESDA and thus making sure that people are able to avail of these programs in her district. — Marvin Segura
