An employee of the Zamboanga City Water District was shot dead by one of the three gunmen at Cadena Amor, Guiwan at dawn yesterday.
Killed was Ronnie Dante Mariano y Delgado, 29, married, of Guiwan. He was an employee at the ZCWD’s meter reading department.
Mariano sustained two bullet wounds in the left shoulder and chest and died on the spot.
Initial investigation disclosed that Mariano and some relatives were walking on their way home coming from a party celebration at past 1 a.m. when three men met them along the road.
Police said that Mariano and the three men engaged in a heated argument over an unknown topic.
Amid their argument, one of the three pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and shot Mariano twice.
The assailants escaped after the incident while the victim died on the spot.
Recovered at the crime scene were three spent shells and one magazine loaded with five rounds of ammunition of .45 caliber pistol.
City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin Deocampo mobilized his men immediately arrest the killers. -- Dan Toribio Jr.
