Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday released almost P250, 000 in cash assistance to victims of fire incidents that hit barangay Sta. Barbara and two other areas that occurred separately over the past months.
Done in line with the city government’s continuing relief assistance program, the distribution ceremony, held at the City Hall conference room benefitted 65 families—63 of which were victims of the Sta. Barbara conflagration last August 18; one was a victim of the Tetuan fire last August 14 while the other one was a victim of the fire in Limpapa last September 15.
Mayor Lobregat  said the cash aid is part of the relief assistance program of the city government and is intended to help alleviate the condition of the fire victims. He was assisted by Councilor Nonong Guingona, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Francisco Barredo and personnel from the Treasurer’s Office during the distribution rite.
Yearly, the city government allocates funds for the grant of cash assistance to victims of calamities such as fire and other man-made or natural disasters.
“The city government continues to accelerate the delivery of basic services to our people because of our sound fiscal condition”, the mayor emphasized.
Victims whose houses were totally razed to the ground received P5,000 cash assistance each; victims whose houses with partially damaged as well as house sharers and house renters received P3,000 each  while house boarders received P1,500 each.
