Government forces arrested an alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf Group in Barangay Recodo last Tuesday morning.

Nabbed was Abdul Wahab Hamja alias Amja, married,  residing in Recodo. Authorities said that he is a follower of Radulan Sahiron.

Hamja was nabbed by operatives of the Special action Force (Seaborne), RCIDU 9 and PCTC in coordination with the PNP of Recodo.

Hamja has a pending warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention under Case No. 128923-H A to E for six counts of kidnapping.

Hamja is one of Sahiron’s men when they abducted six members of the Jehovah’s Witness in 2002 in Sulu.

Hamja was placed under interrogation and debriefing before he was turned over to the court.

DZT gathered that the authorities were tipped by an informant on the presence of Hamja in Recodo.

Government forces conducted surveillances that confirmed Hamja’s residence in the area.

Immediately,  lawmen secured a warrant of arrest and swooped down on Hamja’s house in Recodo that resulted in his arrest. — Dan Toribio Jr.
