A police report disclosed that Sarip and Gonzales were were setting up matting around 2 p.m. on the riverbank in preparation for the filing of the materials for the rip-rap project. While they were placing concrete bar on the bottom of the wall it gave way burying them along with dirt.

The duo’s companions rushed to help extricate them from the landslide.
