A midwife was released two days after she was seized by gunmen in Patikul, Sulu  last Wednesday afternoon.

A military report disclosed that Rosalyn Los Banes Kiram was freed to Hadja Nurmina Abubakar, barangay chairman of Darayan, at the vicinity of Barangay Maligay, Patikul around 5 p.m.

Kiram was brought to the Gawad Kalinga housing project in Barangay Liang where she met Supt. Antonio Freyra and Mayor Khabir Hayudini of Patikul.
Authorities were clueless on what prompted the kidnappers to release Kiram.

Kiram along with four other health workers were riding on an L300 van last Monday afternoon on their way to Jolo proper when the group of Minok Sappari flagged the vehicle  down and seized them.

Kiram’s four companions were immediately released while  she was brought to the  forest.

Authorities did not say whether or not ransom was paid for Kiram’s release. — Dan Toribio Jr.
