The relentless thrust in providing dignified resettlement for informal and displaced settlers continues as Mayor Celso Lobregat led the groundbreaking ceremony yesterday of the Tierra Verde Homeowners’ Association, Incorporated Housing Project Phase 2 at Talon-Talon.

The most recent housing project will shelter 28 families composed of informal settlers from Talon-Talon and those who were temporarily housed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office 9.

Lobregat congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to be religious in settling their dues as to avoid misunderstanding in collections and so that the system of trust with the land owner will be maintained.

The mayor also commended the efforts of the Housing and Land Management Division headed by Mr. Rodrigo Pagotaisidro for making sure that said association complied with the necessary documents as required under the socialized housing program.

Under the helm of Lobregat, the Housing Division facilitated the resettlement of 247 families—64 were relocated to the City’s resettlement sites while 183 were relocated through the socialized housing projects.

The simple ceremony yesterday morning was also highlighted by the induction of the officers of the said association.

The group’s President, Mrs. Loudes Iraham thanked the City Government for providing them a relocation area where they can call their own. She also expressed gratitude to the city’s housing division for being lenient despite delays and for the considerations in times they fail to comply with their dues.

Present also during the event were Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, Councilors Percival Ramos, Lilia  Nuño and Benjamin Guingona III, Mr. Jomar Lobregat and the Chairperson of the Homeowners  and People’s Organization Federation, Inc. Mrs. Violy Alejandro. — Richard Aliangan
