“I would like to ask you pro golfers from the different regions nationwide to become ambassadors of sports and goodwill for Zamboanga  City. When you go home to your respective home golfclubs  please tell the people that Zamboanga City is peaceful and the Zamboanga City Golf and Country Club is beautiful having a scenic greenery ground with refreshing sea breeze.”

Thus the appeal of District 2 Congressman Erbie A. Fabian to professional golfers who participated in the two-day 1st PRO- AM Golf Tournament sponsored by Newsday Zamboanga and Royal Golf Club of Zamboanga City last Friday and  Saturday

The appeal was made by Fabian during the awarding ceremony held at a local hotel Sunday night.

Some 100  amateur players of Zamboanga City and 26 professional players from the different golf clubs nationwide competed in the tournament. Most of the professional golfers came from Manila.

World champion Jovic Pagunsan of Negros Oriental said the Zamboanga City Golf Club is very beautiful and the golfers of Zamboanga City are very hospitable and friendly.

“I  thank Congressman Fabian for inviting us here to play and I wish to come back again  for any golf tournament,” Pagunsan said.

Alraf Construction Enterprises Team Leader Engr. Faizal Hasiman said that his team worked hard and concentratedon the games to get the championship title in Class “C”  division.

“I thank (Sulu) Vice Governor Ben Loong, Jessie Balasabas of Manila and Van Doroshic for the excellent teamwork,” Hasiman said. — Allen Abastillas
