Senator Chiz Escudero has commended the joint efforts of the local government, the police and military which led to the safe release of two public school teachers Sunday night who were kidnapped by armed bandits Mindanao.

Limunsudan Bayug Falls Elementary School teachers Keno Sanchez and Rene Sumagang were taken at gunpoint in Ragongon Village in Iligan City and were freed by their abductors over the weekend in the town of Kapai, Lanao del Sur.

“This only shows that cooperation among the local government, the police, military, the education sector and civilian groups can facilitate the safe release of teachers who were victims of kidnapping in the region,” Escudero said.

According to Escudero, the Philippine National Police in Iligan and in Lanao del Sur, the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Philippine Army, the Office of Iligan City Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz, the Office of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong, the Islamic Communications Group, barangay officials, the PTA Federated President, and the City Council Committee on Education Chair all deserved commendation and praises for the safe and peaceful turnover of the victims to their families.
