The Curuan police station has submitted to the City Prosecutor Office murder charge against the man who shot and killed the No. 1 barangay councilman of Muti two weeks ago.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo said the case was filled against Julkibar Lahiluddin who has no permanent address.

Lahiluddin was positively identified by witnesses as the gunman riding tandem on a motorcycle driven by a cohort who shot to death Edgar Mali y Hasim, 35, married, the No. 1 Kagawad of Muti.  The killing took place last March 6 around 2 p.m. at Sitio Basagan, Curuan.

Police said Lahiluddin was also the same gunman in the first gun attack who shot Mali on September 15, 2010 at Sitio Marangan and the second gunslay attempt at the Zamboanga City Medical Center last September 17.

De Ocampo said that when the court will issue the warrant of arrest for Lahiuluddin and his unidentified cohort, the police will conduct operations to serve arrest them.

He added that the Curuan police station was still trying to determine the identity of the mastermind as well as the motive of Mali’s killing. — Dan Toribio Jr.
