Gen. Alvarez St. fronting the office of the City Social Welfare and Development (OCSWD) has been temporarily closed to traffic from March 29 to April 3 to pave the way for the construction of a drainage project.

The temporary closure order is based on Executive Order CL 446-2012 issued by Mayor Celso Lobregat per request of the construction firm that is undertaking the project with funds coming from the city government.

Specifically, ordered temporarily closed is the portion of Gen. Alvarez Street at its junction with Claveria Street to its junction with Cervantes Street, fronting the Office of the City Social Welfare Development, starting March 29, 2012 to April 3, 2012 for the duration of the construction of the drainage project thereat.

The request of the contractor, 3VC Construction was promptly recommended by the Office of the City Administrator citing effects on vehicular traffic in the area and to ensure safety of the motorists and pedestrians in the area.

Based on the executive order, the contractor concerned and the City Engineer’s Office are directed to ensure that appropriate signages are in place forewarning motorists/ pedestrians of the ongoing project for public safety.

Copies of the EO have been furnished to the acting City Police Director and the chief of the Police Traffic Section for implementation; the CEO and the barangay chairman of Zone 4, the different utility public conveyances using that road as their ingress or egress from the city proper, for their information and appropriate action.  — Sheila Covarrubias
