City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo yesterday disclosed that they have been strictly monitoring the activities of all organic members of the City Police Office and have found no one among them engaging in drug activities.

De Ocampo was reacting to a statement issued by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency recently calling on all police officials to check their men who may have involvement in drug pushing.

De Ocampo said that policemen under his command undergo the so-called random drug testing.

He assured that if there are policemen under him who will be found positive of using or selling drugs, he will not hesitate to personally recommend for immediate legal action.

The police director said there was an organic member of the local police who was arrested by PDEA during a drug operation in Rio Hondo few months ago and that he had immediately recommended the filing of administrative charges aside from the criminal case against said policeman..

“I will not tolerate my men to get involve in any criminalities especially in drugs. I will enforce the law,” De Ocampo said.

He stressed that in the gunslay attempt against a policeman along RT Lim Boulevard recently, the suspects and the victim are not organic members of the city police office.

The said gunslay attempt had something to do with a drug case in which the victim was a witness against his fellow policemen who were caught engaging in a shabu session while on their duty at Camp Batalla last year.

De Ocampo added that from time to time he is conducting surprise random drug testing among his men.

He said that appropriate charges will be filed against those men in uniform who will be caught positive of drug use. — Dan Toribio Jr.
