Milo summer sports clinic kicks off today PDF Print E-mail

The Summer Sports Clinic sponsored by Nestle Philippines and Milo opened its registration yesterday  at the Ateneo De Zamboanga University and at Enriquez Sports Complex in Baliwasan.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Area Mindanao Head Pedro Alfaro Jr. disclosed that the Nestle-Milo Summer Sports Clinic is the first of its kind to be held in Zamboanga City because it not only involved basketball, but other sports like taekwondo, football, badminton, swimming and volleyball.

Alfaro said the sports clinic is a seven-day sport event clinic that starts today and will end on April 18. 

This program is being  supported by the National Sports Association. The sports clinic is open to  children aged 16  and below for the whole Region 9, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

According to Alfaro, former national basketball coach Nick Jorge founded the Best Center in 1978, the first of its kind in the country, to teach the fundamentals of basketball through scientific and systematized approach. The sports clinic produced players from Zamboanga City who are now playing big leagues in Manila like Mark Baroca and Chico Lanete of  B-Meg team in the Philippine Bastketball Association, Rudy Lingganay of Powerade, RR Garcia of FEU, Jeans Knuttel of FEU, Michael Tolomia of FEU, Garbo Lanete of San Beda, former PBA player Lester Tolomia of Sta. Lucia and Jake Shie of Talk n Text.

The sports clinic produced  some 30 players from Zamboanga City who are playing in Manila.
