A motorcyclist was killed while 15 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Culianan last Sunday and Saturday.

Police identified the fatality as Joel Enriquez y Erasga, 37, of Cabatangan.

A police report disclosed that Enriquez was driving a motorcycle at high speed on the way to the city proper and tailing an Isuzu dump truck driven by Jose Arquiza of Bunguiao when the accident took place last Saturday afternoon.

Police said when Enriquez reached the junction of Culianan and Mercedes, he lost control of the steering bar and crashed. Thereafter, he was accidentally run over by the right rear tire of the truck.

Enriquez died on the spot with fatal injuries in the head and body.

Arquiza surrendered to the police after the incident.

Meanwhile, 15 persons were injured last Sunday afternoon in another accident. They were identified as Masawa Hassan, 60, Merhama Abdulkahil, 37, Layha Ahmad, 48, Alvin Ahmad, 16, Hja. Hairatol Alam, 54, Madsmir Majid, 7, Salip Binhard, 21, Masawa Askalani, 18, Faida Boon, 35, Sudais Boon, 8, Bensar Jumadil, 17, Najiba Jumadil, 19, Berhama Abdulgahir, Babylin Abdulgahir and Nurfaisa Lahaman, 33, all residents of Sta. Catalina.

A police report disclosed that the 15 victims were aboard a PUJ driven by Rashid Moskid, 25, of Sta. Catalina, on their way to an interment in Sangali when their vehicle crashed due to mechanical trouble in Culianan.

The 15 victims were rushed to the Mindanao Central Sanitarium in Pasobolong for treatment. – Dan Toribio Jr.
