Dr.Milabel E. Ho, newly-elected president of the Western Mindanao State University, was given honor arrival that was followed by a welcome program at WMSU’s Dr. Juanito Bruno Gymnasium yesterday morning.

Dr. Ho arrived from Manila where six out of the 10 members of the WMSU Board of Regents voted in her favor during an election last Monday at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) central office.

Monday’s election of Ho made her the fifth president of WMSU. The university’s first president was the late Dr. Juanito Bruno who was later elected City Councilor. He was followed by Dr. Erdulfo Fernando, then Dr. Eldigario  Gonzales and later Dr. Grace Rebollos.

In an interview, Ho vowed that she will to do her best to make WMSU a center for excellence.

“In my first 100 days, I will do first the house cleaning and put things together and see to it that all situations and activities are in order.I will intensify linkages and networking with local, national and international academe for the good of the university,” Ho said.

She lamented that WMSU has been politicized but added that she will use  politics because it is the language of the country and everyone is using it.

“I will use politics for the advantages of WMSU, most especially for the promotion of education and for the good of  the youth,” she said. — Allen Abastillas
