Cops seize 5 deadly guns called ‘boga’ Print

Armed with a search warrant, operatives of the Ayala Police Station led by Supt. Albert Larubis raided two houses and confiscated five units of a deadly improvised gun called “boga” yesterday morning.

Larubis said that one of the house owners identified as Aldam Tating was arrested while his brother Jaid Tating was not around during the raid.
Confiscated from Aldam’s house were four units of “boga”. Jaid’s residence yielded one “boga.”

The raiders also recovered live bullets of M16 and M14 rifles and spent shells of .45 caliber pistol fromAldam’s house.

The five seized bogas are more powerful than other ordinary bogas, because they are made of iron pipe and other metal components. Other bogas are made up of plastic pipesand other plastic components.

Aldam and the seized items were brought to the Hall of Justice yesterday for inquest proceeding.

Police said that boga is a deadly weapon and based on records, several persons have either been killed or injured with the victims hit by its bullets which are playing marbles.

Bogas are being produced in some barangays in the city and are being sold at P500 to P2,000. –Dan Toribio Jr.
