PNP-HPG nabs 26,865 for helmet law violations PDF Print E-mail

A total of 26,865 individuals were arrested nationwide for not wearing safety helmets while driving motorcycles and scooters during the seven-month period from Sept. 19, 2011 to April 22, this year, the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) said on Monday.

Included in the apprehension lists were 13 police officers, six members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, an operative of the Bureau of Fire
Protection, two from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, one from the Land Transportation Office, and one local government employee.

During the same period, PNP-HPG operatives also arrested 10,616 individuals for not displaying the proper plate number of their vehicles.

At least 43 motor vehicles and 81 motorcycles, with suspicious documents and questionable registry, were also turned over to the PNP-HPG from January 2011 to April, this year.
