Zambo marks ‘Dia de Ma’am Caling’ today PDF Print E-mail

The city government of Zamboanga headed by Mayor Celso Lobregat will lead today in various activities, commemorating the 91st birth anniversary of the late Mayor Maria Clara L. Lobregat dubbed as “Dia de Ma’am Caling”.

The activities will kick off with Operation Tuli from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the City Health Office in Pettit Barracks back-to-back with the Women’s Congress also at 8 a.m. at the Melriss Catering Services in Barangay Tumaga.

At 3 p.m., Mayor Lobregat will lead in the blessing and inauguration of 4x4 utility vehicles for fourteen barangays at the City Hall grounds.

A commemorative mass is scheduled at 5 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Parish in Pasonanca with Archbishop Romulo Valles as the main celebrant.

It will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the life-size statue of Ma’am Caling to be lead by Mayor Lobregat and congresspersons Beng Climaco-Salazar and Erbie Fabian. Then, a commemorative program will follow at 6 p.m. at the Jardin Maria Clara Lobregat, also in Pasonanca.

The program will coincide with the conferment of the 2nd Maria Clara Lobregat Award of Excellence on outstanding graduating high school students.

During the program, P/Chief Supt. Mario B. Yanga, officer-in-charge of the Zamboanga City Police Office, will give a message to be followed by a musical tribute by the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Concert Band and a response by the mayor.

Highlighting the whole day event is the 7th Encuentro de Chabacano Banda Musical (Battle of the Bands) from 7 p.m. onward at Jardin Maria Clara, Pasonanca. — Vic Larato
