The officers and men of the Regional Protection and Escort Unit 9 under the  leadership and supervision of Sr. Insp. Anthony Sollestre Landig has put up a nursery for seed propagation of  narra and mahogany trees in Villa Sta. Maria, Barangay St. Maria last April 18, 2012

The putting up of the nursery was made in coordination with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-9 in Pasonanca. It is intended as a support to the national greening program of the government to help in the preservation and protection of the environment.

The nursery was also established in connection with the Philippine National Police program called “Pulis Makakalikasan: 10 Milyong  Puno Pamana sa Kinabukasan.”

“Under the PNP program, the police is not only tasked to enforce the law and protect the people and the country,  but we have also a program on environment. Every policeman in the country is required to plant trees for the protection and preservation  of the  environment,” Landig said.

The PNP also encourages the people to help in the campaign to plant more trees for the future generation. The nursery is open to anyone who wants to avail of tree seedlings. — Allen Abastillas
