Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested two more members of a notorious drug syndicate operating in Recodo last Wednesday afternoon.

Arrested were Randy Beltran and Juni Juainie, both followers of Margani Samla, one of the most wanted men in the city and follower of Nadzhul Alih alias Katindig, the alleged drug kingpin in Recodo, who was earlier arrested by PDEA.

Beltran and Juainie were nabbed around 4:45 p.m. along the Recodo coast.

The PDEA operatives were backed up by men of the PNP SAF Seaborne, PCTC and PRO’s RIID .

A PDEA report said that Beltran and Juainie were aboard a small pumpboat with “bodyguard” written on the hull heading for Sangbay Island in Hji. Mutamad, Basilan when they were accosted by the government forces.

Recovered from the suspects were shabu, money and guns concealed in a plastic bag that was thrown into the sea when they sensed the presence of the government operatives.

The suspects were detained at the PDEA sheadquarter for the filing of charges in court.

The arrest of Beltran and Juainie is part of the continuous campaign of PDEA with the aim to destroy the drug syndicate in Recodo and send the members to jail.

Alih, the alleged leader of the syndicate, was arrested by the PDEA agents led by its regional director Supt. Adzhar Albani in a restaurant in Canelar two weeks ago.

Alih’s six followers, three CAFGU members and three military assets, were also nabbed after they tried to rescue their leader outside the Hall of Justice in Sta. Barbara three days after the Alih  was arrested.

PDEA agents had figured in shootouts with the drug syndicate in Recodo after they tried to conduct raids in some years ago.
