Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Napoleon R. Estilles revealed during the 2nd  Regional Peace and Order Council 9 meeting last Wednesday that  kidnapped Australian Warren Richard Rodwell is alive.

Estilles,  quoting reports from PNP intelligence operatives, said that Rodwell is very weak and frail as his captors are always moving him from one place to another.

Reports said that Rodwell is being transferred from one place to another in Lantawan and Sumisip,  Basilan.

“We are doing our best to locate and rescue Rodwell. My office is coordinating with the PRO- Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao because Rodwell has been brought by his captors outside my jurisdiction. Our troopers are working 24 hours on the ground for the rescue of Rodwell,” Estilles said.

He also reported during the RPOC meeting that Salug Mayor Jeffrey Lim is still with his captors.

Until now there is no identities yet of Lim’s captors as well as the ransom demand.

“I am positive that Mayor Lim is still in the (Zamboanga del Norte) area. My troops are currently combing the area to rescue  Mayor Lim,” Estilles said.

Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Rommel Jalosjos said Rodwell’s captors are demanding P20 million ransom for his release.

The 2nd RPOC meeting held at Garden Orchid Hotel was presided by Chairman Mayor Celso Lobregat. —  Allen Abastillas
