District 2 Congressman Erbie A. Fabian said yesterday he is willing to sit down with Mayor Celso Lobregat and District 1 Congresswoman Beng Climaco to discuss matters that will possibly preserve their political alliance for the sake of Zamboanga City and its people.

“I am willing to sit down with them and discuss things over and whatever will transpire will form part of my decision making process. And I will make it sure that my decision would be an independent one,” said Fabian during a press conference yesterday he called in response to strong clamor from various sectors to reconsider his earlier plan to retire and instead continue his political career.

Fabian agreed to observations that it is only through their so-called triumvirate partnership that development will continue and fasttrack and Zamboanga City’s traditional clean and peaceful politics will be preserved.

In a separate interview,  Mayor Celso Lobregat stressed that as much as possible, he would like to “preserve 100 percent” his partnership with Fabian and Salazar and that he is also making his own consultations with the people in the grassroot level especially on the possible position he would aspire after his term ends.

“Some wanted Erbie to run for mayor. Others wanted Beng to run, instead. They also want me to run for congressman. All of these will be considered before we will make our decision,” Lobregat said as he clearly emphasized that nothing is impossible for them to stay together even though they belong to different political parties.

Congressman Fabian said the announcement of Jalosjos is a welcome development but has expressed surprise considering the fact that both of them (Jalosjos and Fabian) belong to the Nationalista Party (NP) of Senator Manuel Villar.

“We live in a democratic society. If he is qualified, nobody can stop him from running and putting things forward for what he thinks that best for our city,” Fabian said.

In their last meeting with Jalosjos in Dapitan during the regional athletic meet, Fabian said that nothing politics was discussed.

“It came to me as a surprise when he made the announcement. I’m even thinking of bringing this to the attention of the NP national leadership. I intend to see Senator Villar one of these days,” Fabian said. — Jimmy Villaflores
