City pours in P99.43M projects for Sta. Maria PDF Print E-mail

Almost P100 million has been poured in for various projects in Sta. Maria in a period of 5 years in line with the City Government’s thrust to bring about development and progress in the barangays. 

Mayor Celso Lobregat bared this Thursday, as he turned over to barangay Sta. Maria close to P4 million worth of infrastructure projects that consisted of the Community Police Action Center (COMPAC), Center for the Elderly, multi-purpose pavement and renovation of the health center that included the construction of garage and construction of fence.

Mayor Lobregat said the city’s projects cover all aspects- specifically education for the young, law enforcement, public safety, environment, service for the elderly and many others and are distributed in all barangays in the city.

“Our support and assistance to the barangays has been very constant and continuous”, the mayor stressed.

As this developed, Justo Lacando, Sta. Maria Barangay Chairman expressed gratitude to the Lobregat administration for the tremendous funds allocated for the barangay.

He emphasized that the projects have great impact on the community in line with the City Government’s vision to bring about progress and development in the city.

When the city’s finances stabilized in 2007, the Lobregat administration implemented 7 projects worth P19 million. These projects include 2 school buildings for the Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School (DPLMHS).  In 2008, there were 10 projects worth P13 million that were implemented and these included the 2-storey 12 classroom building at the DPLMHS.

Fifteen projects worth P9.3 million were implemented in Sta. Maria in 2009 and these included the rehabilitation of the barangay health center. In 2010, a total of 13 projects were implemented worth P12.7 million and in 2011 there were 6 projects worth P3.2 million that were undertaken in the barangay.
For 2012, there were 7 projects worth P15.3 million that were completed. Included in the list are the COMPAC, center for the elderly and the renovation of the health center.  Ongoing at present are 10 projects worth P22.3 million which include the 2-storey 10 classroom building at the DPLMHS. Several other projects are undergoing bidding with the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC).

Adding all projects implemented since 2007 until 2012 to include those with the BAC, the total amount of projects for Sta. Maria is P99.437 million. 

The turnover of the projects Thursday afternoon was graced by District I Congresswoman Beng Climaco, Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, Councilors Jaime Cabato, Rey Candido, Rudy Lim, Noning Biel, Nonong Guingona, Percival Ramos, Lilia Nuno and Rogelio Valesco Jr. Also present were PSupt. Hado Edding, Sta. Maria Police Station head PCInsp. Larry Domingo, Senior Citizens Federation president Corazon Herico, City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos, City Social Welfare Officer Francisco Barredo, barangay officials headed by Lacandalo, Zamcelco board vice president Bong Atilano and the mayor’s younger brother Joemar Lobregat. — Sheila Covarrubias
