A 70-year-old grandfather was shot dead by one of two men riding on a motorcycle along Talon-Talon Loop road yesterday afternoon.

The fatality was identified as Lubuciano Nodado, married, of Sta. Maria.

Nodado’s son-in-law Dennis Sanchez told newsmen that they were on their way to Talon-Talon to visit relatives and have some family gathering when gunmen shot his father-in-law.

Nodado sustained bullet wounds in the body and was rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.

Sanchez said they started their trip with Nodado driving a Honda XRM motorcycle ahead of him while he was tailing behind on another motorcycle. Along the way, he said, he stopped at a store to buy some snacks.

Sanchez recalled when he approached the Talon-Talon Loop road near the flea market he was terrified to see his father-in-law on the ground, struggling with his last breath with bullet wounds in the body.

Sanchez said he hastily stopped his motorcycle and picked his father-in-law, then boarded him on a vehicle that rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

However, Sanchez was informed later by other relatives that the victim was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators said Nodado was shot by the gunmen who were also aboard a motorcycle.

Witnesses said the victim fell on the ground after he was hit by bullets. His motorcycle dragged him to the road gutter.

Sanchez said that last September, his brother-in-law Michael Nodado, was stabbed to death in Cabatangan.
