District 2  Congressman Erbie A. Fabian expressed elation over announcements made by the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office that the city by-pass road construction will get underway this year.

Highways Regional Director Jorge Sebastian recently announced the release of the initial funds of over 300 million pesos to jumpstart the ambitious road network in the city.

Fabian, one of the key figures in the realization of the project along with colleague and 1st District Rep. Beng Climaco-Salazar and the city leadership, said the 39 kilometer by pass road linking the east coast to the west will open the city to more progress and development.

The solon added the road network, which will entail years to complete and hundreds of million of pesos more to fund, will speed up the movement of goods, disperse the city northward, and ease traffic congestion in the downtown area.

It will also help revive the moribund Zambo Ecozone in the west coast after it gets linked up with Sangali Fishing Port in the east coast, the fishing hub of the city.

“With the start of this project, I shall have done my share for pushing progress and development in Zamboanga City during my term in Congress, the congressman from Mercedes declared.
