The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office No. 9 is pleased to announce the appointment of Labor Attaché Hassan Gabra T. Jumdain as Regional Director in Region 9.

Director Jumdain was previously appointed as Regional Director in this region last January 21, 2008 after his assignment as the Regional Director of OWWA in Caraga Region way back November 28, 2005 to January 18, 2008.

He finished his Bachelor of Science in Criminology at the University of Visayas in Cebu City. He continued his education at the Far Eastern University Institute of Law from 1983 to 1985.

He earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2006 and Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 2007 where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

The significant year of 1990 started his career in the government that is mandated to protect the interest & welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). He started as Welfare Officer and was elevated as Assistant Labor Attaché of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Thereafter, he rendered effective, efficient and selfless service to the OFWs at the Philippine Embassy in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain in 2005.

With utmost commitment and dedication in the performance of his duties, he assumed the post as Labor Attaché II in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on December 2008.

Director Jumdain’s devotion to duty, fidelity to service and compassion for the OFWs earned him different kinds of awards from the countries where he was posted for 14 years like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and Malaysia.

He was the first Philippine Embassy Official sent by the Ambassador in Riyadh to visit the crime scene perpetrated by Islamic extremist bombing of the American Military Housing in Al-Khobar, where 54 people died and 386 injured on June 12, 1996.

The dynamism of Director Jumdain continues as he is devoted to carry on his well-balanced management and assured a more progressive agency which will contribute immensely to the improvement of the quality of service for OFWs.

He is a man who has deep faith in the programs through effort in improvement of everything through hard work and dedication, whose various involvement on affairs rendered to Filipinos we cannot underestimate.
