House Deputy Speaker and District 1 Rep. Beng Climaco yesterday appealed to the public to understand her silence amidst the intrigues on the forthcoming May 2013 elections, as she undergoes through pain and grief due to the loss of a baby.

Climaco underwent surgery recently due to complication of pregnancy and has been advised by her doctor to limit physical activity until fully recovered.

“This isn’t the time to add fire. This is the time to discern as I also seek for consideration to give  me time to grieve over my loss,” the lady solon appealed in the wake of the intrigues on the  2013 local elections and the ground swell clamor for her to run for mayor in the forthcoming polls.

She said her silence means respect in the midst of all the intrigues. She said she is recuperating from the loss of a 5-week old baby due to ectopic pregnancy and the succeeding surgery, but stressed that she is taking time to balance duty in Congress and people despite her sensitive condition at the moment.

Amidst the pain and grief, Cong. Climaco remains faithful to the people she serves. “I shall come to terms with all these at the right time. Let us first do the job waiting to be accomplished”.

The District 1 congresswoman has expressed gratitude for people support and trust and confidence on her leadership. She vowed to continue to work for the best interest of Zamboanga City.

Numerous barangay officials and sectoral representatives and other well meaning individuals in  the city have called on Climaco to seek the mayoralty post in the 2013 elections citing her brand of leadership and her accomplishments and achievements not only as District 1 representative but even as vice mayor and city councillor—positions which she held prior to becoming a Representative for District 1. — Marvin Segura
