Robredo urged officials and all stakeholders for peace and development in Basilan to help each other so that  tranquility will reign in the province.

“I urge you to help the Philippine National Police and  other law enforcement agencies of the government to combat lawlessness and stay united for peace and progress. We in the national government are doing our utmost best to put up projects that will benefit the people,” Robredo said.

Chief Supt. Estilles personally thanked Mayor Akbar for donating the lot for the site of the new police station.

Once the building is completed, the old police station at Kampurnah will be back to its previous status as sub-station. The former Isabela City Police Station situated near the Basilan Provincial Capitol was razed in a fire in the early 90s.

The new building is a Class A type with 12 rooms including one for the office of the Women and Children Desk office to cater to and assist women and children who are victims of abuses.     The site measures 1,000 square meters and the building to rise will have a roofdeck. It will be constructed in 180 days.

After the groundbreaking ceremony. Robredo boarded a Philippine Navy boat and proceeded to the municipality of Al Barka for the groundbreaking ceremony of another police station. — Allen Abastillas
