Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Napoleon R. Estilles has given PO2 Faisal Juhaidi  one-month vacation to recover psychologically from a 38-day captivity in the hands of  communist rebels in the hinterlands of Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.

Bayog is a known lair of communists rebels and illegal small-scale miners.

Juhaidi was abducted by some 70 communists rebels last April 9 at around 7:00 p.m  at the police Station of Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur. The rebels carted away seven M16 and one M14 rifles and one 9mm pistol.

Estilles yesterday lauded the efforts of all officials of Zamboanga del Sur for the safe release of Juhaidi.

“I will also give him financial assistance for his vacation and he will be assigned here in the city as he will retire from the service two years from now. He was taken by the rebels because his three companions were suffering from arthritis during the raid (at Tigbao police station), ” Estilles said.

The police regional director said he has received information that the rebels who raided Tigbao Police Station came from different areas.

Juhaidi is a former member of the defunct Philippine Constabulary. He served in Zamboanga del sur for 20 years. During his younger years, he was assigned in the communist infested municipality of San Miguel, also in Zamboanga del Sur.

9th Regional Medical Office Supt. Dexter Bubuli disclosed that Juhaidi will  undergo a stress debriefing. He will be also given maintenance for hypertension. — Allen Abastillas
