New People’s Army rebels released on Tuesday in Bayog a policeman who was abducted in Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur on April 9.

PO2 Faisal Juhaili, who is from Zamboanga City, was fetched by relatives led by his uncle Ustadz Jamiri in Barangay Canipaan, Bayog where he was freed by the communist guerrillas.

Juhaili was brought to the nearest police station to take some rest and was later taken to Camp Batalla along RT Lim Boulevard, this city  around 1 a.m.

Juhaili was in good condition when he arrived in this city.

The freed policeman told his superiors that he was treated well by the rebels when he was in captivity.

Juhaili was released by the NPA rebels  after the group found he has no any involvement in any human rights violation against civilians.

He told newsmen here that he was moved from one place to another during his captivity apparently to evade pursuing government forces.

Juhaili was abducted by  some 70 rebels during a raid at Tigbao Municipal Police Station last April 9.

The rebels also ransacked the station of high powered firearms before they left the place.

Sources told DZT that the NPA is against the ongoing mining operation in Zamboanga del Sur.

The NPA believes that some local government and police officials are supporting the mining activities in the said place. – Dan Toribio Jr.
