House Deputy Speaker and 1st District Representative Beng Climaco will be commissioned as  a Lieutenant Colonel in the Philippine Army during formal donning rites set to be held at the Western Mindanao Command headquarters today, May 18.

The donning ceremony will be held this morning after the ceremonial turnover of road concreting projects in Camp Arturo Enrile, Malagutay and in Camp Basilio Navarro in Calarian—projects which are initiated through the office of the 1st Congressional District.  A fun run from Malagutay to Calarian and participated by military personnel will form part of the program.

Wesmincom Chief Maj. Gen. Noel Coballes will lead the formal donning of rank to Cong. Climaco.

“We are grateful for this commissionship to the Reserve Force and we see this as one responsibility to uphold to the ideals of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. This is yet another duty,” the congresswoman said.

The donning of ranks is given to public officials as stated in Republic Act 7077 as in Section 44  where appointment of public officials to the Reserve Force is donned with respect to existing  AFP rules and regulations.

Among those who will be in attendance are Mayor Celso L Lobregat and other local officials as well as officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines . — Marvin Segura
